Meaning:
Taegeuk Il Jang is the simplest most basic form of the Taegeuk series and consists of 3 solid lines (trigram or gwae) and represents heaven/sky. The sky symbolizes beginning therefore Taegeuk Il Jang stands for not only the start of the Taegeuk series but also the beginning of a new Taekwondo student.
